International Country Music Day is Tuesday, September 17, and to celebrate, we’re sharing five of the best country music venues in California and Arizona. If live music and line dancing are calling your name, get ready to two-step your way into one of these country clubs, dance halls, or honkytonks.

4. Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace
2800 Buck Owens Blvd, Bakersfield, CA 93308
(661) 328-7560
www.buckowens.com
Known as “The Country Music Capital of the West Coast,” Bakersfield, CA, is home to the eponymous Bakersfield sound: a tough, gritty take on mainstream country music that emerged in the 1950s. Country music outlaws like Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and Buck Owens were instrumental (pun intended) to the Bakersfield sound movement, and you can still catch the sound at a few venues around town. Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace is perhaps the biggest draw. Part museum, part restaurant, part country music venue, the Crystal Palace is a place where you can enjoy performances by country music’s hottest acts, dancing, and dinner with a healthy dose of history.
5. Buffalo Chip Saloon
6823 E Cave Creek Rd, Cave Creek, AZ
(480) 488-9118
www.buffalochipsaloon.com
The Buffalo Chip Saloon has been a fixture in Arizona’s Cave Creek community since 1951. The all-ages saloon has a jam-packed event calendar that includes free dance lessons and live music nearly every night of the week, plus an all-you-can-eat fish fry on Friday nights. They even offer bull riding lessons on Wednesday and Friday nights. Yeehaw!
